Minnesota’s Top 10 Auto Body Shops

This month, AASP-MN News once again combed the internet to find what consumers are saying about Minnesota auto body shops. After pouring over countless Google, Yelp and Facebook reviews and monitoring these businesses’ digital interaction, AASP-MN News included athose with the most positive reviews and online engagement on this list. It should be noted that eight out of the 10 shops listed are AASP-MN members, a confirmation of their commitment to be sure they have access to the necessary tools and resources needed to run a successful collision repair business.

ABRA – Auto Body Repair of America (Est. 1984) – Marshall
For nearly 40 years, ABRA (Auto Body Repair of America) has been growing throughout the country; here in Minnesota, its Marshall location stood out the most via its online presence among reviewers and interactions over social media. Customers find the Marshall crew to be friendly and helpful, which is one of the things that keep them coming back again and again. As one Google reviewer put it, “The employees at ABRA were superior in customer service. Every single person stopped to say hi and greeted me with a smile when I walked in. I received text updates on my vehicle frequently. I received personal calls to let me know the status of my vehicle as well. It was the friendliest service I have received in a very long time. They did excellent quality work as well! 10/10 rating for sure!!!” “I couldn’t be happier with the repairs or the processes,” states another satisfied customer.” They kept me informed every step of the way, gave me all of the information about rentals and were extremely professional. If you need work done to your car give these guys a try.”

Arrowhead Auto Body (Est. 1998) – Hermantown

This shop is not only committed to excellent auto body repair and customer service but also to giving back to their community – and working as a team to provide quality work while having in the process. Arrowhead Auto Body has a family atmosphere they share with their customers, and a commitment to putting a smile on their faces, as this Google reviewer points out: “It has been a wonderful journey over the past 20 years having my vehicles repaired and brought back to almost new condition by Arrowhead Auto Body. The entire staff has been so kind, personable and professional in their approach to making happy customers. It’s usually not a happy occasion when you have to take your car in for body work but Jen made this recent visit a pleasure. Thanks again to the entire crew there at Arrowhead for turning a frown into a smile with your caring attitudes. ” A Facebook user adds, “Wonderful customer service. I was able to use a courtesy car while my car was being fixed. They were very good about keeping me updated on the process and handled all the paperwork with my insurance. Brad Hanson’s Profinishers Auto Body (Est. 1996) – Prior Lake

Brad Hanson has become a trusted name for collision repair all around the Prior Lake, Savage and Lakeville areas. Brad alone brings over 30 years of experience to the shop floor, along with a team of fellow professionals who have been keeping this family-owned business running successfully for nearly three decades. A certified NAPA AutoCare Center, Brad Hanson’s Profinishers Auto Body retains its independence while offering customers a nationwide warranty and exclusive specials. Customers may work directly with Brad or one of his qualified team members when they bring their car in for work. “Brad and his team have come to the rescue for my daughter and I a couple of times,” says a Facebook user. “I 100 percent trust Brad and I know that he will take care of my car with the utmost care. He will let you know exactly what needs to be done and will not overcharge you. No waiting and the BEST customer care around! If you need your car repaired, do not hesitate to call Profinishers! They are the BEST!” A Google user shares his experience and appreciates the time taken to get the job done: “While the car was delivered a couple days later than promised, it was not their fault. GM sent the wrong parts. Other than that, I’m very happy with the service. They did an excellent job on my truck, and kept me informed of their progress every step of the way.”

Central Avenue Auto Body (Est. 1981) – Minneapolis

For more than 40 years, Central Avenue Auto Body has been sending customers away happy with their repaired and restored vehicles. It all began in 1982 when Ray Czupta accomplished a lifelong dream of opening a body shop with the help of friends and family. Ever since, that dream has continued with a focus on quality service, honesty and professionalism, which has helped them earn loyal customers. “This place is the best!” boasts a Facebook user. “It’s like a small ‘mom and pop’ type shop, but they are just as professional as the big corporate places. I would much rather give my money to a small, local place like this than a big corporate conglomerate. CAAB is very accommodating, and they stand behind their work. I’ve brought three different cars there, and would highly recommend them to anyone.” One customer went to Yelp to promote Central Avenue Auto Body as “the best auto body shop in Northeast Minneapolis.” Citing multiple reasons to go there, the writer says, they have an “incredibly polite staff (especially on the phone), and do an outstanding job every time. They are in the business of helping people, not squeezing money out of people. The prices are difficult to beat and they are family-owned.”

Deano’s Collision & Automotive Specialists (Est. 1984) – Elk River

This shop claims to be Elk River’s longest established collision repair shop and it’s no surprise based on what customers are boasting online. The family-owned business has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a small shop just down the road from its current location, a 24,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. Here’s what one happy customer had to say: “Got my Ford F-150 body work done here. I heard these guys do great work with aluminum trucks. The repair makes it look like the fender bender never happened. Great work Deano’s. I would recommend them.” In an update months later, the same customer writes, “Several months after the repair, I had a follow up issue that I thought was due to the repair. After investigating, they helped me fix an unrelated problem. I asked how much I owe them, they said no charge!! Who does this in this day and age? Deano’s, you are the best!” Another says, “Exceptional service, communication and work. The folks at Deano’s made significant repairs to our SUV following a winter wreck. The process was easy and the car looks brand new! Amber was awesome to work with and the guys in the shop do an incredible job.”

LaMettry’s Collision (Est. 1976) – Multiple Twin Cities locations

LaMettry’s Collision has come quite a long way in almost 50 years! What started in a family garage is now offering some of the finest auto body repair options around with 10 locations scattered throughout the Twin Cities area. This Facebook user shares: “Scott was amazing to work with. He kept me updated on everything with my car. I can’t thank him and the rest of the staff enough. I’m so happy with my car. It looks brand new.” Hundreds of customers have turned to Google to spread the word. One writer says, “My car was damaged from an accident so I brought it to LaMettry’s. From the initial estimate through scheduling and repair, every step of the process has been seamless. My contact, Ajay, was great with his communication, keeping me informed every step of the way. I would definitely use them again, which, in fact, I have! We have a household with five drivers and we, unfortunately, had to have three different repairs performed in the past six months. We have used LaMettry’s all three times with complete satisfaction!” LaMettry’s President of Operations is Darrell Amberson, who currently sits on the AASP-MN Governmental and Regulatory Affairs and Scholarship Committees.

Latuff Brothers Auto Body (Est. 1933) – St. Paul

Latuff Brothers Auto Body is the home of former AASP-MN Board President Will Latuff (a fourth generation member) and his family. The shop dates back to 1933 when Latuff brothers Joe, Mike and John founded it with values that allowed the business to thrive even in the midst of the Great Depression. Since then, Latuff Brothers has achieved decades of success thanks to treating customers and employees the way they themselves want to be treated and a commitment to always do the right thing, even if it’s not an easy thing to accomplish. As one Google writer reports, “INCREDIBLE SERVICE AND PRODUCT!! I drive a car that is not common, which also means the parts are less common. They were patient while I found parts, gave great advice and had consistent communication. The work is incredible. There are no signs that the car was ever damaged; they matched paint to a 15-year-old car and I cannot tell any difference. The entire team is thorough and SO kind. I also thought the pricing was very fair. Considering the blow it is to see your harder-to-find car damaged to the extent it was, it was a very positive experience being in their hands.” Another gave credit to their customer service. “Everyone there was just so kind and helpful! They walked me through everything and explained everything to me, kindly and clearly. Also, they have a very clean and friendly atmosphere with a lovely waiting room! Overall, this place has you in very good hands!”

North Country Auto Body and Mechanical (Est. 1993) – Hugo

North Country Auto Body and Mechanical was born out of a partnership between Galen and Susan Carlson who co-founded the business with Rich Ober back in 1993 and have been offering premier auto repair services to the northeast metro area ever since. Their success is driven by their shared commitment to high ethical standards, high quality repairs and helping people. Their commitment to building strong relationships with their customers has kept the community coming back again and again for 30 years and counting! As one Facebook user puts it, “Awesome people! Amazing work and more than fair!” A Google reviewer shares a similar experience: “Shattered the rear window and gouged a huge dent in the roof of my Ram 3500. Took it to North Country, and boy, did they do a nice job. Can’t tell there was ever any damage. I’m really impressed with the work they did and the outcome for me. Also need to mention how customer service-oriented they were. In every way, they wanted me to be satisfied, and I am. Next time I need body work, I will come back to North Country.”

Peters Body Shop (Est.1957) – St. Cloud

For more than 60 years, Peters Body Shop has set out to provide extraordinary care and service to their customers. This shop attributes its success to team experience and attention to detail. They want to guide their customers through every single step from the time they drop off their keys to the time their vehicle repair is completed. They’ll even take care of returning the rental car and set out to remove the burden of dealing with the insurance company by working with them directly. As one Facebook user says, “All the work was completed on time, and they worked great with my insurance company to cover additional costs.” A Google user raves about her experiences with Peters: “Excellent service! This is not the first time that I have used Peters Body Shop for vehicle repairs. Their work and professionalism in taking care of the damage to my vehicle was outstanding. Their work was done earlier than anticipated, which saved me money in the long run. Great people to work with.”
